It has been a fun and busy weekend: Dance Guild and RA retreat!
I can honestly say this has been one of the busiest weekends I've had this semester. With everything that is going on, it is sometimes hard to keep up with the busyness of life! I want to address two things that happened this past weekend: Dance Guild and RA retreat!
Dance Guild is student-led organization that sets up different types and levels of dances and has two show nights each semester. Different dances are performed each semester. Each genre of dances is led by a student choreographer. The student choreographers decide their songs and the way the dance will be presented on show nights. Dance Guild is the biggest student-led organization at Calvin. A few genres:
- '60s dance
I was given the opportunity this semester to see Dance Guild through different eyes. In the past couple semesters, I usually see the show when I attend the event. This year, I was able to see the dances by being part of a couple of dances and see the show in a screen in the green room. I was able to be part of one of the dances and was given the opportunity to co-choreograph a dance (Guild CoEd Funk).
I was also part of the Latin Fitness group!
RA retreat :)
RA retreat was so much. My staff drove to a cottage for a whole day. My RD and RDA surprised us with a friendly competition by making gingerbread houses. There were two different teams. Each team was able to make their own version of a gingerbread house. It was so much fun. It was actually my first time making gingerbread houses with people. I never experienced it before and I am glad I did. But before we got to the house, we drove up to Meijer to get some ingredients for our brunch and the gingerbread house.
My team did a traditional version of a gingerbread house with color coordination. The other team got more creative. They have a dog and showed the inside of the house. When they brought out their gingerbread house, I thought my team lost! The end result of the winning team was the traditional gingerbread house (my team)!
