Why Calvin's concerts?
One of my favorite parts about going to Calvin is the concert variety. Calvin goes above and beyond to assure that a variation of music is presented here in the school. As a person who does not like concerts very much, Calvin has taught me to appreciate music and concerts. I remember a time when I did not like listening to live music. My only reasoning with not liking live music or concert was because I believed it was too loud. Now, because of the variety of musicians brought in at Calvin, I am slowly learning to appreciate and love concerts. Because Calvin is affiliated with a Christian church, I thought that it would only allow Christian music, concerts and movies. I was wrong! Calvin brings in both secular and non-secular musicians. Even with is Christian affiliation, Calvin tries its best to bring in different styles of music both from the secular and non-secular world

And of course, on Monday October 12, 2015: Nate Ruess!
The opener for Nate Reuss was a band called Saint Motel. I've never heard of their music before, but listening to their music live, I realized that I like the band and their music. I think they were able to set a good tone for Nate Ruess, as they were able to get the audience pumped up for Nate. They had a fun atmosphere. Below are some pics of Saint Motel:
I really enjoyed Nate Ruess! He sang songs that are from his single album and from his band FUN. Nate Ruess sang his heart out and was willing to lose his voice for Calvin College, especially with hitting the high notes of the songs. I enjoyed Nate Ruess as he was just having fun on the stage and having fun with the audience.
One of my favorite parts of Nate Ruess' concert is when he sang a song dedicated to Calvin! In his song, he thanked Calvin College, Ken Heffner and the USA! I enjoyed Nate's presence as a musician even more!
