Thrive-in-Five: 5. Set Aside Time for God

My Jesus Journal :)

My Jesus Journal :)

The fifth and most important way to thrive at Calvin College is to ensure that you set aside time for God. All too often, this is the most difficult, since the things of this world are all too tangible. Setting aside time for God can look like a number of things. It could mean finding a church, attending LOFT, going to your floor Bible study, or waking up and reading your Bible. God doesn’t care how you do it, he cares that you do it.

I understand that it’s hard to take time from your busy schedule for God. With the flurry of activities happening all around campus, sitting in a room by yourself isn’t always your ideal way to spend your time. Still, it should be.

God brought you to Calvin for a reason. He wants to know the things that you are learning, and teach you things that no textbook ever could. In getting up early and devoting my early mornings to the Lord, I have felt myself grow closer to him. I have further learned the things he desires for my life. We are on this Earth to worship him and him alone. It’s time to prioritize the God who always prioritizes us.
