As a lover of concerts, movies and entertainment, I’ve been to the box office located in the CFAC practically a thousand times. The process is fairly simple: I give over my ID and money, and they give me back my ID with a ticket for whatever event I’m planning on attending. While the job may seem simple and potentially boring, employee Nyarie Zaranyika is convinced that being a Box Office Sales Clerk is the best job yet on campus.
What makes the difference for Nyarie is not the job itself, but the people:
I love that it's a close knit group of people. They are my box office family. Most of them are upperclassmen, so they give me good counsel on how to do this whole college thing. My boss is really amazing. She gives us candy and her husband bakes cookies for us every Thursday. I'm a people person, so I love that I meet and talk to different people in the box and at events.
The requirements for this job are fairly simple: fill out an application and then go in for an interview. If you do get the job, you’re expected to be professional in both how you dress and address customers. The general expectations of this job are working a certain number of hours per week and occasionally picking up extra shifts during large school events.
