Call it basic, but it’s not fall without the sudden influx of all things pumpkin spice. I have seen everything pumpkin spiced, from salmon to cat litter (sadly, this is not a joke). Starbucks releases its signature pumpkin spice latte (which I've personally never had) and everyone adds pumpkin flavors to their menus. My personal favorite is the pumpkin cupcake Knollcrest Dining Hall serves during the fall season.
Past pumpkin, there's also all the seasonal drinks that come out during the fall season. Hot cider is the perfect treat after a long day of classes. Or, if it's been a particularly chilly day, you can treat yourself with a warm mug of chai latte. These drinks are good for both the soul and the body. I personally have an entire shelf in my dorm dedicated to teas, hot cocoas and cider.
I love fall because it's filled with excitement for Thanksgiving food to come. The thought of mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and turkey alone is enough to make it through those particularly trying days of classes.
Fall is by far the best season for warm and nourishing comfort foods. I'm sad that fall is coming to an end, but at the same time I look forward to all the new things winter will bring with it. Happy fall, everyone!
