The Lyon Street Cafe has beautiful wooden paneling, a minimalistic feel and irresistible cupcakes, all in addition to their signature coffee. Their tasteful latte art makes the coffee too pretty to drink and transforms your coffee experience into a work of art.
“I like the interior of the building (the lights, the wood, the bakery items). The lights are hanging lights, kind of like in an unfinished basement or a garage, and the tables are wooden bench booths. The cupcakes are enormous, but I've never actually had one. The red velvet biscotti with a black coffee got me through December one year.” —Rae Gernant (junior, secondary education, English and Spanish)
Filled with a constant buzz, the Lyon Street Café has a constant stream of people flowing in and out. This makes for a vibrant depiction of life, as well as a prime spot for people watching.
“I really like the vibe of this place. I like the exposed wood and the lantern bulbs. The indoor and outdoor seating is ideal for when it’s nice out. I also like how it’s a little further away from campus so I don’t see as many Calvin people and get distracted.” —Cali Beyer (junior, economics and international development studies)
Although the Lyon Street Café is not known for having a large variety of items, they guarantee a quality beverage for each item you get. The vanilla latte is a classic, according to Cali. If you like your coffee slightly stronger, Rae’s preferred choice is the pour over.
The Lyon Street Café is located at 617 Lyon St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
