Before you know it, winter break or summer break will happen and you’ll be faced with an ailment that plagues thousands of college students across the United States: Roomie Separation Anxiety (RSA). I still remember getting on the airplane to go back home for the summer, and finally realizing that I would not see my roommate for three whole months.
We made a promise to Skype once a week on Sundays and text everyday. For the most part, we kept up with this promise. This test of distance made our friendship stronger. Even though we were not in each other’s lives physically, we knew we still valued each other enough to keep in touch on a daily basis.
The only positive part of the first separation is getting to see each other at the end of it, and picking up right where you left off. By this point, you’ve been through it all: the getting to know you stage, the honeymoon phase, the first fight and the first separation. Finally, you get to move on to the best stage of all: the BFF Stage.
